Things I like about Malta
Time flies, I have been in Malta almost half year already and I have many precious and unforgettable experiences here. The first comes to my mind is the beautiful sunshine and environment here. As we all know that there is serious air pollution in China thus every time breath impress me a lot. Moreover, the shining and clean sea, which are I cannot forget, are around the island so that I can go to the beach to relax wherever I want. Another point which cannot skip is my classmates and friends in Malta who comes from the whole world are my friends and enthusiastic to me. They are so helpful that I gained a lot interesting culture from various countries meanwhile my English improve a lot.
NCUK Students Outing to St. Martin’s Institute
On Tuesday, March 6th NCUK students were taken to St. Martins Institute of Higher Education in Hamrun, Malta. The outing included the President of the Students Council addressing the students about his experience at the school and answering any queries the students had. In addition, an international student from China spoke about her experiences studying at St. Martins and how she adapted to life in Malta. The students were then given a tour of the premises before finally listening to a lecture in Business Analysis delivered by Mr. Charles Theuma. The NCUK students really enjoyed the visit as it gave them the opportunity to see what other options are available to them after they complete the NCUK IFY Business Stream Course.
NCUK follow-up audit at European College of Malta
The European College of Malta delivers the NCUK International Foundation Year Progreamme –Business Stream. This programme provides a pathway to a wide variety of undergraduate degree programmes for international students who have completed their high school education. Once students successfully complete the course they are guaranteed a place at leading NCUK university or are eligible to apply to a university of their choice.
In order to be able to guarantee places at partner universities in the UK, NCUK carry out regular audits of their centres to ensure that all centres throughout the world are delivering NCUK programmes according to the high standards set by them.
An external auditor Sandra Cunliffe who is an external examiner and also a member of NCUK’s Delivery Quality Committee, visited The European College of Malta on Tuesday 27th March 2018 to carry out a follow-up audit. During this visit she:
• Inspected facilities
• Spoke to tutors/students
• Checked NCUK documents used by the centre
• Discussed recruitment of students
• Discussed numbers of students progressing to NCUK universities
• Discussed the way forward for the centre
After the audit Sandra discussed her visit with Linda Azzopardi, Academic Manager of the European College of Malta, and Debbie Westwood, Student Placement Officer, and commended them on their organization and excellence in delivering the NCUK International Foundation Year Programme Business Stream.
